  • There was a comment about submission problems in the FAQ thread, but I thought I’d move here since it seemed more appropriate…

Anyway, I submitted a file last night and it hasn’t shown up yet either. I sort of expected it to get a low score, but not so low that you’d refuse to post it on the leaderboard! ;) Did I do something wrong, or should I try again with a different browser? I used Safari the first time around…

  • Joran: Sorry about this. There was a small issue this morning with the service where the files were stored. It appears to be resolved now.

  • The entry upload page doesn’t quite work today – the progress bar advances fine until roughly the last 1% and completely stops there.
The zip file is approx 130MB, I’m uploading from Vista, and have tried Firefox, IE, Chrome…
    Anyone experienced similar problem?

  • I’m experiencing the same problem from XP, using Firefox and IE8 (IE8 actually crashed after trying to upload the file for the 3rd time). The file is an uncompressed .csv file of 66MB.

  • I tried again from MacOS – Safari, and this time it worked. The progress bar moved much slower (actually, at the speed that I would expect it to), so maybe the problem is in the progress bar script?

  • Freinds at Orwik;
I “removed” a submission and upload file another. All seemed correct.
Now the “removed” submission is back on my screen. And the uploaded file has disappeared. It was not scored.
    What am I doing wrong??

BTW, I have already made two submissions succesfully.

  • I have to second what ML said. I keep deleting past submissions and they keep reappearing. What’s more, when I submit a new file, it instead resubmits an older submission. The upload bar zooms to near the end, and just hangs for a few minutes. This happens in both IE and Firefox in windows. I have been successful in uploading something in windows, but I can’t get the upload to work at all in Firefox or Chrome for Linux.

  • Dear Mike and Rob,
I am sorry you’re having issues. While we can’t reproduce the problem on our systems, we could suggest a possible reason for this: you have to press the “resubmit” button after the file is uploaded to complete the submission. This was done to provide extra flexibility in case you want to submit several files at a time or in case you made a mistake. Please make sure you press that button and get back to us regarding your progress.

    best,

    Your friends at Orwik.

  • Borya, thank you for hearing our cries.

Here’s what happens (Firefox with XP or IE with Windows7):
Click on “Remove” – the file disappears from the webpage.
Refresh the webpage. The file returns.
Click on “upload” – the new file uploads.
The new file is listed on the webpage.
Refresh the webpage. The new file disappears.
    Click on “Resubmit”
The “removed” file (now the only one displayed) resubmits.

So I can make no progress …. :-(

But here is a thought! I did change my Account Details. Has this messed things up??

BTW, another clue: the “Sign In” “remember me” box does not work for me.

  • Mike,

Please do not refresh the page after the “remove” and “upload” steps. The system will do the necessary changes without the need to refresh. If you refresh, the system thinks that you’ve decided to start all over. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will try to add some tips so that your experience will help us make a better user-interface.

    Borya

  • Thank you, Borya. I was being too careful … :-(
“Remove” – the old submission disappears
“Upload” – the new submission is uploaded and automatically submitted
    Success!

  • Mike,

My pleasure! Again, I am sorry for the confusion.

  • When I try to submit, I get this error, "Please submit atleast one file to your application." I've submitted before successfully and did not get this error. You can view the screen shot of what I saw here:

  • Hi David,

I am sorry that you're having issues. We tested the submission system again today and found no problems. Please try again and report on your progress. You can see a successful submission here]

  • Hi,

I restarted my computer and tried again. But, I get the same problem. This problem is not just exclusive to me. One person on my team had the same problem earlier on today, but it was fixed later. Another person said that he has had the same problem and it hasn't been fixed.

    David

  • Folks:

My experience is that the submission system malfunctions if two computers are signed-in to the same account at the same time.

My current submissin procedure: Only one computer signed in. “Remove” – the old submission disappears “Upload” – the new submission is uploaded When the upload completes, the uploaded file name appears "Resubmit" - the submit date updates.

  • David,

Please submit a report (either here or to help.orwik.com) with the machine OS, and browser info so that we can try to troubleshoot it.

    thanks,

    Borya

  • I'm still having problems submitting. I successfully uploaded a file yesterday and hit submit. It timestamped but never posted to the scoreboard. I signed in today and my submission was not listed as uploaded. I uploaded again, it took forever again, and when it finally uploaded I hit resubmit. I get the error "please attach at least one file for your application." I got this yesterday as well.

I tried this on both Firefox and Explorer on windows XP. This is not a unique problem, no one on our team can submit, and it looks like no one has submitted today across the whole contest.

  • It's Windows XP with any browser I try (IE, Chrome and Firefox)

  • Borya: my submission , date-stamped by the submission screen at Feb 23 8:37,  has not scored on the Announcements after 14 hours.

  • There was a change to Orwik's systems yesterday that prevented the automatic updating of the leaderboard.  I updated it manually right now, and it should be back up and runnning tomorrow.  We're working with the Orwik team to help resolve the submission issues and make it easier to identify failed upload attempts.  These changes should also be going live tomorrow.  I apologize for the difficulties people have been having, and hope we can prevent them in the future.

  • Eric, thank you! You folks are doing wonders with a tough situation ... :-)

  • I am also having problems submitting an entry. I notice that there is a javascript error that appears when I attempt to submit using IE. I ran IE 8's built in javascript debug tool and appears the error is occuring at somepoint where your SWF file's callback methods are being registered.

Both of the links below are screenshots of the error I am getting.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I was trying to submit a new entry a few minute ago however the system did not upload the file. There was no new file submitted but the system thinks the submission is completed and still requires me to wait for another 24 hours. I couldn't find a way to resubmit the file or undo the action. I would much appreciate your help to resolve the issue. Thank you!

  • Hmm, not sure what happened here.  My records show that you resubmitted the same file you had the day before.  I'll ask Orwik to look into it.  In the meantime, if you can post the file somewhere and send me a link at omopcup@gmail.com, I'll submit it manually for today.  When you submit next, make sure you remove the previous file from the submission window, as I'm guessing may have contributed to the problem here.

  • Hello Eric: I'm having problems with my submission. My file got uploaded correctly but clicking the Submit button appeared not to be working. I kept receiving a message saying that I should attach a file which I already did but did not get a message that the file has been submitted. The name of the uploaded file is AdjSRR_Dpc_s2_osim2_omop.csv. Thanks.

  • About 3 hours ago I uploaded and submitted a file named predict_018.txt.  My score has not updated yet.  The server was inaccessible for a while during that period.  Are there ongoing problems with the server?  I would try to resubmit, but the system says I last submitted about 3 hours ago.  Thanks.

  • My score just updated.  Sorry for the alarm.

  • Parts of the site appear to have gone down for a bit earlier this evening.  I'll be in contact with Orwik about what happened, and to make sure it doesn't happen tomorrow night.  Everything appears to be working again. Dave, your file did not get completely uploaded, so please try again. Send me another email if you still have problems.
